About Me

JOHN KALLESTAD

PHOTOGRAPHER

I got my first camera over 50 years ago, a Nikon F and have shooting Nikon’s ever since. In the early 1990’s I attended my first photo workshop in the California ghost town of Bodie CA. From there I continued to expand my knowledge and expertise in the use to the film camera. In the next 10+ years I produced over 15,000 slides wandering the west from a base at Lake Tahoe. I switched to a digital camera in the early 2000’s. My philosophy is my camera is a time machine.

My photography is exploring unfamiliar places in search of light, composition, and subject matter whether it be a landscape, wildlife, or a simple rock. To capture a, “Moment in Time” with my time machine.
